Cape Town Wedding Planner Reflection: Dorethy and Michael’s Peachy Perfect Day at Boschendal

Dorethy and Michael’s Peachy Perfect Day at Boschendal

A highlight of my job as a Cape Town wedding planner is helping international couples to plan a Cape Town wedding. Even better is when a couple from abroad wants to embrace the South African elements that make their wedding unique – I’m always proud to include some local details into a wedding.

Dorethy and Michael are from the UK and chose the beautiful Boschendal Olive Press as the venue for their Cape Town wedding. They embraced the process of planning a destination wedding and they came to South Africa during the build up to the big day so that they could visit the venue and enjoy wine and food tastings. The theme of the wedding was “Peach and Proteas” – a celebration of South Africa’s stunning national flower. Any Cape Town wedding planner would anticipate that sourcing these abundant local blooms would be easy, but Murphy’s Law played a part and there were many wildfires just before the wedding, meaning we had to search high and low for the few proteas we could get hold of!

The theme came to life through the many peach and protea elements of the day. The tables were set with bountiful flower arrangements, paper protea cutouts on the rim of each wine glass and peach napkins. Peach macarons were sweetly packaged as guest favours.

The wedding cake was exquisite, made of tiers of white chocolate shards, and skillfully crafted by Kanya Hunt Cakes.

The bridesmaids looked pretty in peach and the groom and his groomsmen made sure that they were accessorised with the colour of the  day. Dorethy wore a gorgeous off-the-shoulder gown which was elegant and quite unique.

As a Cape Town wedding planner I have seen many Cape Town wedding venues, but there is something extra special about Boschendal. The couple were married in a ceremony out on the lawn with a stunning mountain backdrop.

The guests enjoyed lawn games, cocktails and canapes while a string quartet played.

The Olive Press venue is a beautiful light-drenched room with herringbone detail floors and light wood roof beams that mean you don’t have to add a lot of decor – the venue is already impressive!

The Nicolette Weddings Team were so happy to plan a Cape Town wedding that this UK couple and their visiting guests could enjoy, as well as one that gave a real taste of South Africa. The menu and bar options showcased some proudly South African options – there was kudu on the menu and milk tart and Amarula for something sweet.

This Cape Town wedding was planned and coordinated by Cape Town Wedding Planner, Nicci Morris, of Nicolette Weddings, and photographed by Greg Lumley.
