Wedding Planner Cape Town visits Boschendal for Lunch

Wedding planners in Cape Town are sometimes lucky enough to benefit from working with some of the most beautiful and all-round exceptional venues in the world, and an amazing visit to one of Cape Town’s oldest venues, Boschendal, earlier this month was so note worthy, that I’ve decided to end my almost year long break from blogging to tell you about it (yes, we’ve been that busy!).

Boschendal, which was founded in 1685, is nestled between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, about 45 minutes from Cape Town’s city center, and offers beautiful accommodation, incredible dining at various restaurants, fantastic picnic packages in two locations on the estate, vineyards, two wine tasting centers, a butchery, and of course, our favorite part, a truly stunning, ticks-all-the-boxes, fabulously decorated and fully equipped wedding venue called The Olive Press.

We are currently planning, and have previously planned, several weddings and events at The Olive Press and we love the modern-natural interior and have never been disappointed with the fine dining that the kitchen there serves. Some of our favourite weddings at Boschendal’s Olive Press venue include Sarah and Marcel’s wedding, as well as Dorethy and Michael’s wedding.

To thank us for a great working relationship, Boschendal treated us to a complimentary lunch at their fine dining restaurant, The Werf, which is situated next to the manor house and opposite the deli, overlooking the farm’s incredible herb garden, which serves all the venue’s restaurants with fresh, organic herbs and spices for their menus. My husband, a vegan foodie, was only too happy to join me for the occasion.

The decor and ambiance of The Werf blew us away as we arrived. So many interesting aspects of the decor to take in as we made our way to the table on the balcony. Modern, yet comfy and cosy at the same time, and just the right amount of “cool” without being too much.

Our meal was incredible and we loved every mouthful of magic that the chefs especially prepared for both of us. The kitchen kindly rose to the challenge of preparing something amazing for my strictly vegan husband, as well as for me, a strictly non-vegan (if I’m allowed to confess to that).

I had an incredible line-fish of the day, with one of the best potato bakes I’ve ever had, as well as a mouth watering side of pesto gnocci. It was quite nice knowing that all the greens on our plates were straight out of the garden that we sat overlooking during our meal; no carbon foot print at all!

I also have to mention the best part for me, which of course, was sipping on the incredible Boschendal Bubbly!

For dessert, I devoured a delicately prepared vanilla creme brulee, before rolling back to the car for the scenic drive home.

All we can say is thank you to Lauren from Boschendal for the exquisite treat that would make any wedding planner Cape Town ‘s day.
