Last week the Cape Town wedding planner team at Nicolette Weddings had a fantastic get-together with one of our favourite bridal hair and makeup artists, Cecilia from The Exquisite Look. To help brides make their wedding day hair and makeup related decisions easier, Cecilia joined us at the office to demonstrate her fabulous skills on our beautiful model, Sarah-Jane, and tell us in an interview, a little more about what brides need to know when booking their wedding hair and makeup.
1. How long have you been doing make up?
I have been doing this for four years now. I started doing make up as a hobby and discovered my talent soon after that, so I decided to pursue it as a career and never looked back. I love my job, it’s sooo much fun!
2. Why do you enjoy it?
I love the freedom to be creative and I love the flexibility to work my own hours. It means so much to me that my work makes a difference to brides on the biggest day of their lives, which is what makes my job so rewarding to me. It doesn’t feel like work, it’s more like living my hobby!
3. What make up products do you use?
I use top quality products such as Mac, Bobby Brown, Inglot and a variety of other international brands which makes all the difference to the overall look of the bride on her wedding day, and how she feels when wearing the makeup.
4. What other services do you offer?
Besides makeup and hairstyling, I also do gel nails and semi-permanent eyelashes.
5. Tell us why a bride should use a professional for her makeup?
- The use of professional products which last 8-10 hours
- The knowledge of what suits each individual bride and her personality
- Professional makeup plays a big role in the outcome of flawless wedding pictures.
- A professional Makeup artist knows what works, and what doesn’t on both camera and film
6. Will you do a test make up before the actual day?
Yes, always! A hair and makeup trial is always highly recommended so that the bride and her artist can work together to achieve the exact look the bride has in mind, and so that both are on the same page before the big day. It’s also a good opportunity to experiment with different looks to see what would work best for the brides colours, facial shape, and personality.
After a fabulous afternoon of bubbly, chatting, and one heck of a make-over, words aren’t needed to describe the exquisite end result, which you can see from the pictures of our glowing model below.
Everything was done to perfection. From Sarah-Jane’s hair;
to her striking green eyes,
the overall look was magnificent!
Nicolette took a moment to sit down with our model to ask her about her experience and Sarah-Jane reported that she felt like a million bucks and Cecilia was an absolute pleasure to work with, and would put any stressed bride at easy. We all give Cecilia’s excellent work two thumbs up and would recommend her to any bride for her big day!
