Cape Town Wedding Planner Reflection: Our Top 9 Favourite Guest Favours from Our Own Weddings
One of the many jobs of a great Cape Town wedding planner, is to create beautiful weddings, that reflect each unique couple in a special and memorable way. A great way to do this is with guest favours, as we can always gift something pertinent to each couple and any unique interests they may share and use this when sourcing or creating guest favours.
Guest favours are also a great way to thank your guests for spending their day celebrating your new marriage, and to leave them with a special memento of the time they shared with you, to take home with them.
During my time as Cape Town wedding planner, I have seen some fabulously thoughtful guest favours at our weddings over the years, and here are some of our favourites:
The Tasty Surprise
This delightful little box contained a tasty treat of the most delicious home-made biscotti inside, made by the bride’s mom. The boxes was custom designed and tied with ribbon for Rachel and Sean’s wedding at Lourensford, by Secret Diary Designs.
The Blingy Box
This gorgeous custom gold foiled box at Jackie and Mark’s wedding at La Residence, had a special treat for the ladies inside, a gold diamond shaped ring! This was a perfect gift from the bride Jackie, who owns our favourite private jeweller, Princess Diamonds.
The Organic Chocolate Pot
The guests at Laura and Michael’s wedding at Babylonstoren were treated to these delicious post of organic chocolate body paste from Honest Chocolate, with custom tags made for each guest by Secret Diary.
The Organic Coffee Bag
This fabulous hessian bag of top quality coffee, tied with twine and labelled with a sweet “thank you” note, was given to lucky guests at Zonel and Luke’s wedding at Cavalli Estate.
The Customised Treats
These pastel coloured M&M’s are close to my heart as they are from my own wedding (Nicci and Wayne’s wedding at Jonkershuis). We specially imported custom M&Ms from America with our names, wedding date and pictures of us kissing on them, in our wedding colours, and they were an absolute hit!
We also hand-made packaging for “Nicci’s Nuptial Nibbles” and “Wayne’s Wedding Water” for snacks before the ceremony.
The Fishy Tale
How darling are these little fish biscuits with the sweet idiom “Two less fish in the sea” on custom tags made by Secret Diary, for Ingrid and Johan’s wedding.
Pashminas and Silk Ties
Guests at Janice and Henry’s wedding at Buitenverwachting were absolutely spoilt with these silk ties and winter pashminas in their wedding colours, tied with custom made “thank you” notes.
Sometime to Keep you Cool
We love the simplicity of this thoughtful wooden fan gift for the guests at Jen and Dan’s wedding at Webersberg, which took place on one of the hottest days of the year.
The Gift Bag
How curious are you to know what was in these divine gift bags for guests at Ola and Steven’s wedding at Lourensford, and Tatiana and Shawn’s wedding at Asara?!
Ola and Steven treated their guests to sunglasses for their outside ceremony, along with water, a bottle of wine and some other tasty treats, while Tatiana and Shawn gifted their guests, who were all from outside of South Africa, with bottles of our exquisite local liqueur made from the African marula fruit, Amarula, as well as some wooden giraffes and local biltong – what a treat!
Planning, sourcing (or creating) guest favours for our couples is one of my favourite aspects of being a Cape Town wedding planner, as it is a great way to get creative and celebrate what makes each couple unique. I hope these pictures have sparked some creativity for planning your own guest favours too.
