Cape Town Wedding Planner Reflection: Sweet Romantic Wedding at Le Franschhoek

Goodness gracious, our team of Cape Town wedding planners have been buuuusy this season! We have been lucky enough to have been part of the Cape Town wedding planning and co-ordination of some spectacular summer weddings, like Kudzai and Joakim’s romantic maroon and pink wedding overlooking the Simons Town bay, Lana and Daniel’s wedding at the ultra chic and ultra modern Landtscap venue, Rene and Andre’s magical fairy light wedding at Nooitgedacht, Sheree and Stefan’s mystical, enchanted forest themed wedding at Molenvliet, and who could forget Sarah and Andrew’s classy wedding at Buitenverwachtg, what a beautiful bride she was!

But before all those weddings, we started our Cape Town wedding planner season on such a high note, because we started with Susan and Chris’ sweet and romantic wedding, at the ever elegant Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa. Susan, from Ireland, and Chris, from South Africa, both live in Dubai now and chose sunny South Africa for their destination wedding, and Nicolette Weddings as their trusted Cape Town wedding planners and we just loved working with such a lovely and fun couple, with like minded ideas and visions for their Cape Town wedding.

What I loved so much about this wedding is that the couple chose to keep it classic and go back to what weddings are all about, sweet love and romance, and this was really brought out in the soft pink flowers we used, and the delicate and simply pretty details throughout the wedding.

Susan did choose to bring in a touch of modern though with her exquisite dress! The angles and bold lines on the dress contrasted perfectly against the soft lace pattern in the fabric, and together it created the perfect ensemble for Susan to wear as she walked down the aisle.

We used locally sourced, soft pink Blushing Bride flowers, which are a part of the Protea family and indigenous to South Africa, in Susan’s bridal bouquet, as well as throughout the rest of the wedding to match.

Susan and Chris shared their vows in the all-white chapel on the grounds at Le Franschhoek, and we added some warmth and romance to the room by adding soft flowers to the end of the white pews, and by creating a romantic alter by installing a large hanging flower installation over where the couple stood to say their I do’s.

Other flower and décor details for the wedding ceremony included the use of a wine barrel from a local vineyard, which was a perfect way to remind guests of the fact that their celebration was at a Cape Town winelands wedding, as well as a little hint of what their gifts were going to be later in the evening; tickets to take the Franschhoek wine tram through the vineyards for a wine tasting tour together the next day!

The couple’s cake was the beautifully rustic tower we had planned for, and almost no one could wait to dig in, which is no surprise since we ordered it from our favourite Cape Town wedding cake supplier, Cakes by Wade. As usual, Wade draped the flowers perfectly, before we topped it with a custom-made laser cut cake topper, made for the couple by Secret Diary Designs.

After our Cape Town wedding planner team put together such a fantastic team of Cape Town wedding suppliers for Susan and Chris’ big day, we were thrilled to have one of our favourite wedding photographers, Lauren Kriedemann there to capture everything so beautifully!

Until next time,
