On a warm and breathless Thursday evening last week, our Senior Wedding Planner, Nicolette Morris, dolled herself up and headed over to the Willowbridge Lifestyle Centre in Durbanville to visit the Cape Town Olivelli Bridal Boutique. The Nicolette Weddings team had the good fortune to be invited to a meet and greet evening hosted by this fabulous wedding dress supplier, and here, Nicolette shares her evening with us:
I was welcomed by the large windows that just entice you to enter the stunning boutique inside, where one is further pulled in by a sparkling crystal chandelier (my favourite!) displayed between two walls wrapped in opulent wall paper, with rails on either side of the store, adorned with an array of designer wedding gowns. The boutique was just oozing class and I couldn’t wait to learn more about it.
Cape Town Olivelli was founded by husband and wife team, Natasha and Steven Colson and was the result of Natasha having a hard time finding her perfect bridal gown for her own wedding. After searching high and low around Cape Town, Natasha visited Johannesburg to find her dream dress, and at the same time discovered the Olivelli store there and decided to bring it home with her! Some time down the line, Olivelli is now firmly established in Cape Town and the boutique boasts designer gowns from around the globe including America and Spain, and hosts designer names such as Rosa Clara, Stella York, Maggie Sottero and the Enzoani Collection, to name a few. One glance at the display of dresses has your eyes drawn to the deliciously draped chiffons, satins, laces and rhinestone embellishments; it was a true feast for the eyes!
I was further sold on the fact that brides are truly spoiled during their consultations at the boutique and enjoy one-on-one service, snacks and drinks for themselves and the entourage that joins them, and can make use of the fantastic, in-store accessory pairing service. Brides can even go back to the store for their hair and makeup trial to see how the entire ensemble will look with their dress and accessories.

The canapés were delicious and the bubbly flowed. It’s just a pity that yours truly had to spill it all over the floor, mere inches from some exquisite designer gowns. The crisis was averted, however and a truly lovely evening was had by all, for which I’d like to thank Natasha, Steven and the Olivelli team.
