Wedding Planner’s Dream: A Glamorous Wedding in Golden Shades of Champagne

The wedding planner team at Nicolette Weddings had a fantastic start to the month, as we saw all our ideas, planning, and co-ordination of Ingrid and Johan’s wedding come to life at a truly beautiful and opulent wedding in Durbanville, Cape Town. One that we’re still all giddy over! While we wait for the official pictures from the talented photographer we chose to capture the day, Yvette Gilbert, we couldn’t wait to share some of our own snaps of the décor, but please remember these are just captured through our own (somewhat amateur) lens . . . so can you imagine how incredible the real photographs will be!?

For us, the most magical part of the day was seeing all the various elements and details that we’d imagined for Ingrid and Johan’s glamorous colour scheme come together and work in perfect harmony from the smaller, luxurious details, to the extravagant bigger picture one sees when walking into the reception hall. We’d planned for the “wow factor” to be present at Ingrid and Johan’s special day and it must’ve received our invite because it was definitely present!

We based the planning of this wedding on the beautiful colour template that Ingrid brought us at the start of our wedding planning journey, which consisted of deluxe shades of golds and champagnes, with a touch of royal-navy blue.

The look and feel concept for this wedding was to be “glamorous, glitzy, and golden” and we’re so thrilled to show evidence of all of those aspects in these pictures.

The cake, a velvety tower of opulence and grandeur that caught the eye from any spot in the room, was adorned with a white lacy pattern over the metallic-golden base tier, set under a white, gold-studded second base and white floral third base, and topped with a metallic-gold striped fourth base. The exquisite masterpiece was then finished with deep navy ribbon around each layer – it was a truly majestic feast for the eyes!

The rest of the décor also turned out exactly as we’d planned and looked both lavish and royal. We set intricately detailed glass under plates to match the cut crystal candelabras and tea-light holders that adorned the deeply patterned champagne table cloths at the lucky guests’ tables.

The pattern of the beautiful table clothes also perfectly matched the stunning laser cut table numbers, which doubled as menus at each table.

One of our favourite details of Ingrid and Johan’s special day, was the way they made a play on their initials coming together to form I&J (also a well-known fishing company), so as the guest favours, we had little I&J fish cookies custom made in their wedding colours by Wade from Wadescakes, accompanied by custom tags made by Secret Diary Designs, which read “Two less fish in the sea” – the guest favours couldn’t have been any cuter!

The white roses and other romantic flowers were all displayed in small, opulently trimmed flower vases at the centre of each table.

All these items came together flawlessly to paint the perfect picture for Ingrid and Johan’s special day.

Even the cocktails were served with a touch of navy, in the navy blue and white striped straws.

This was a winter wedding after all, so as guests stepped out of the rain, they were warmed up with glasses of sherry on arrival.
