Cape Town Wedding Planner Real Wedding: Small Wedding at Cavalli

The world as we know it has changed somewhat this year, bringing all sorts of challenged for this Cape Town wedding planner, and with these changes brings a new normal for the way we celebrate weddings. This beautiful wedding for Jessica and Mike, photographed by the talented Nikki van Diermen, is a perfect example of how gorgeous, meaningful and downright fun a small wedding can be.

Jessica and Mike, from New York City, were such a dream couple to work with, and I loved that they had a clear vision of what they wanted for their big day, but were still open to suggestion and input along the way.

We booked Cavalli Estate to host this small wedding, and chose the lawn overlooking the lake for the ceremony, Cavalli’s outdoor deck with a view of the nearby mountain range for cocktail hour, and The Conservatory for the reception dinner.

Jessica and Mike envisaged a modern and romantic flower and decor look for their Cape Town wedding, and opted for a white, gold and glass colour scheme. We enlisted the creative expertise of Happinest Decor Hire to pull this fresh look together and bring it to life with gold cutlery and candle holders, glass base plates, ghost chairs, and custom hanging lights.

A variety of lush white flowers from Bouwer Flowers on the tables and hanging overhead pulled everything together to create this beautiful look. I particularly loved how the candle light shone amongst the flowers on the tables, and mirrored the light bulbs amongst the hanging flowers above.

For stationery, we teamed up with everyone’s favourite stationery studio, Secret Diary Designs, to custom create these gorgeous white and gold menus and name cards with custom-made gold wax stamps, which just popped perfectly with the gold cutlery and gold candle holders.

Much like our awesome supplier team, these fabulous elements worked in unison to create this elegant small wedding, to make this Cape Town wedding planner proud.

Sweet Lion Heart created this wedding cake masterpiece, to fit perfectly with the Cape Town wedding flowers and decor.

Once the venue was dressed up and ready to receive, guests started arriving and were greeting with a welcome glass of bubbly.

The ceremony was intimate, special, and truly special.

This modern geometric gold arch was supplied by Happinest and the flower detail lovingly assembled by Bouwer Flowers.

As a Cape Town wedding planner, one of my favourite parts of a wedding day is the moment guests shower the newlyweds with confetti, a symbol of well wishes for a good life together ahead.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the deck, with comfy seating and lounge pockets provided by Happinest Decor Hire.

While guests were enjoying cocktail hour, our picture perfect couple went out for their golden hour couple shoot.

Once guests had enjoyed cocktail hour and moved on to be seated for the reception, the couple had their grand entrance, another one of my favourite parts of the wedding day.

Sublime food, good wine, and great conversation was shared by all.

Speeches were heartfelt and humorous.

Jessica and Mike had a beautiful first dance on the deck of Cavalli, overlooking the lake, with their initials in lights displayed behind them.

This was such a special wedding to reflect on as a Cape Town wedding planner, as the couple were fantastic to work with, the flowers and decor were beautiful, and the supplier team was an absolute dream team!

Please read below to see the letter of thanks from this couple for planning their Cape Town wedding:
“Nicci – Wow, our guests (and us) were totally blown away with everything last night! I want to take the time to write more detail once all our friends and family head home but for now just wanted to reply quickly to say the night was fantastic and everything was stunning and thank you again for all your hard work!”
